We are overjoyed to share wonderful news from Nov 24, 2025 at Bertu Tesfa! Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Wachemo University, our child feeding program has received a vital donation that is already making a profound difference in the lives of our youngest students from Kindergarten to Grade 3.
Wachemo University has kindly donated 20 quintals of teff and 5 quintals of rice. These essential staple grains are enabling us to provide one nutritious meal every school day—wholesome, familiar Ethiopian meals that our children love and desperately need to grow strong and healthy.
Many of our students come from families facing significant hardship. Some arrive at school hungry, having had little or no breakfast—or even dinner the night before. This often causes them to lose focus, feel weak, or even faint during lessons. This generous support directly makes a real difference for our youngest students (KG to Grade 3), helping them stay energized, concentrate better, and fully participate in learning at school.
The donation from Wachemo University will help us to extend the school day until 3:00 PM—giving these children precious extra hours for structured lessons, creative activities, play, and joyful interaction. We have not yet extended the school day, but this contribution provides the critical foundation and progress needed to make it happen soon. However, this generous gift alone does not fully enable us to extend and sustain it long-term—we will need additional partners and support to cover ongoing ingredients, preparation, staff, and resources.
To keep building on this momentum, sustain the feeding program every day, achieve the full school day extension, and ensure no child goes hungry, we continue to rely on more sponsors, donors, and community partners.
